I have tried to change my time zone a number of times today but always end up in Kabul.

Please list the zones either in time order (showing the GMT+hrs) or alphabetical.

I just tested it and did not have any problem changing my time zone. You need to click on the time zone that you want to change to, then click on "update" at the bottom of the screen. You will also need to have a valid username and password entered at the top of the screen, for the change to be applied.

This time it said I was in the zone 'Guam, Port Moresby'. I have done as you suggested, so we will see what time this entry is logged.

David

[Update] Nope. Posting is at 'Mon, 20 June 2005 18:13' instead of Tuesday 21 June 13:10

Please try setting your zone to 'Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney' (it is one 'page' down from the top of the list) and see what you get.

Greenwich says

Quote:

Time synchronized to the NTP network and should be accurate to within 1 second.
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) Tuesday, 21 June 2005 03:39:25 (a.m.)

At the bottom of this page it says

Quote:

Current Time: Mon Jun 20 18:43:06 GMT 2005

Something is mucked up.

I am seeing something similar now. I selected Canberra and it changed the time. When I returned to the menu to change it again, it showed Guam. I then set it back to pacific time. I am seeing the correct times on the messages for the time zone that I selected, but the time at the bottom of the page is not GMT time. Hopefully, the forum administrator will see this and look into it. I am connecting through www.orafaq.com, in case that makes a difference. I did not test the other sites.

Thanks for your efforts.

I have set my account to 'Australia/New South Wales - most' (something like that) but it is still one hour ahead of the current time. Screen says 10:26am and real time is 9:22am. Don't worry about the 4 minutes. Smile

HI

Even in India/Calcutta time zone, the time displayed is 1 hr ahead of current time.

Perhaps it has something to do with whether or not daylight savings time is observed or not. I am seeing the correct time here and we observe daylight savings time, so between the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October it is one hour later than it would otherwise be. In the places where the time that you are seeing is one hour later than what it should be, do you observe daylight savings time there?

We do observe daylight saving time here in 'Australia/New South Wales' but currently it is winter and daylight saving is not active.

I wonder if the 'base time' on the 'box' has been set to UK time instead of Zulu time (UK currently has daylight saving) or are they running the 'base time' on the 'box' at local time and then doing the maths?

It is summer here in Southern California, so we are currently observing daylight savings time. The times on the posts are correct and the time at the bottom of the page is correct also for Pacific Daylight Time, but it does incorrectly label the time at the botom of the page as GMT. Right now, the bottom of the page says:

Current Time: Tue Jun 28 20:01:08 GMT 2005

and Oracle shows:

scott@ORA92> select sysdate from dual;

SYSDATE
------------------------
tue Jun 28 20:03:12 2005

scott@ORA92> select dbtimezone from dual;

DBTIME
------
-07:00

scott@ORA92> select sessiontimezone from dual;

SESSIONTIMEZONE

No, in India we don't observe day-light savings.

It looks good here now. I set it to

"United States/Los Angeles Pacific Time"

and it shows

"Current Time: Fri Jul 1 22:55:18 PDT 2005"

at the bottom of the page, which is correct.

1. Your time zone (User CP -> Settings)
Netherlands/Amsterdam

2. Current Time as displayed on forum
Current Time: Sat Jul 2 16:51:02 CEST 2005

3. Your local time
16.45

(Seems the modification worked; beforehand I always used Ireland/Dublin, as they were 1 hour behind.
Thanks for the great work to keep the site going, Frank!)
