Need some clarification concerning quoting Metalink information.

I seen posts now and then that quotes information from Metalink.
Latest link

Even thoughit's a quote "broken" out from the context, is this ok ? I believe that one should not quote at all from Metalink. Referencing the doc id is sufficient.

It is OK to give the Metalink note number, not to give its content or part of it.
In this case, he didn't quote Metalink note, just gave the conclusion of his search and then told us Metalink reinforces it. He could not give us the Metalink note and no one would notice it.
I can say that I didn't suspect at any moment what he said could be from a Metalink note.

Michel

If you askd me, I'd say that quote (in the third message) was copy/paste from Metalink. At least, something like

As per Metalink note ID 1234567.8:Quote:
"bla bla bla"

looks like an exact quote from a certain source.

Oups! I read his latest post only (as it was posted before tahpush's report, I thought this was this one that was the origin of this topic).

That was exactly how I interpedated it.

But anyway we all seem to agree on not quoting Metalink, maybe it should be included in OraFAQ Forum Guide ?

We could but it should be useless as the poster should know he has to not post this material as it is in the copyright and terms of use note of Metalink.
